The Truth about These Leaders...

The Truth about These Leaders
In the novel, Lord of the Flies, by William Golding, a group of boys from England land on an island after being evacuated due to a nuclear threat. One of their leaders is Jack Merridew. He is irresponsible has red hair, freckles, and a knife. Much like Adolf Hitler, Jack was a dictator. Both Jack and Hitler steal power, use violence to keep their power, and blame others to take attention off of themselves.
Jack and Hitler both steal their power. Jack takes Piggy’s glasses Golding states, “From his left hand dangled Piggy’s broken glasses.” (2). The glasses were important because they helped them make fire. Without the glasses, Ralph would not have had that much power. The glasses also represented the only way to cook food, stay warm, and get rescued. On the page  "The Holocaust Explained," it is stated that, "Between 1939 and June 1941 the German army invaded and occupied many countries, including the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Denmark, Yugoslavia, Greece, Norway and Western Poland." (4). Hitler took entire countries and this gave him more power. Both Jack and Hitler take power that was not theirs.
Jack and Hitler both use violence to keep their power. Golding writes, "He got angry and made us tie Wilfred up" (2). Jack tied up Wilfred up and beat him. This is important because this shows Jack becoming violent and using violence to keep power. On the page "United States Holocaust Memorial Museum," it is stated that, "The vast majority of ghetto inhabitant's died from diseases or starvation, were shot, or were deported to killing centers" (1). Hitler made people suffer and die because of the conditions in the ghetto. Both Jack and Hitler used violence to maintain their power.
Jack and Hitler both blame others to take attention off of themselves. Golding writes, "He isn't a proper chief..." "He's a coward himself." (2). Jack takes away Ralph's power by calling him a coward. This makes Jack look like a better chief. It makes the boys forget the mistakes Jack has made. On "The History Place," it is stated that, "During his rise to power, Hitler had repeatedly blamed the Jews for Germany's defeat in World War 1 and subsequent economic hardships."(3). Hitler told the Germans to blame the Jews, so he could start a war. Both Jack and Hitler often blamed others to take attention off themselves and give themselves more power.
Jack and Hitler are both dictators because they steal their power, use violence to keep their power, and blame others to take attention off of themselves. Both Jack and Hitler were rough on their followers. Nothing was ever their faults and they kept everything for themselves.

My Childhood Memory

Yajaira Martinez Mrs.Twenge 2 03/10/16 My Childhood Memory My childhood memory was with my cousin Andrea in December in 2006. We were in Jiquilpan Michoacan. We were at the plaza with our parents. My dad, grandpa and my 2 uncles would wake up early to sell at the plaza they would sell meat, carnitas, chicarrones and birria. So me and my mom would go walking to the plaza when we would wake up to help my dad sell. When we left the plaza we went to my grandma Maria’s house to drop off my mom there. My grandpa had a goat that he bought me. I named him Kiwi. He was black and white. My cousin Andrea was 7 she had really short hair and she was wearing a red jacket that had flowers on it and blue jeans I was 6 I had long hair and I was wearing a white shirt with light blue jeans. It was the second day in Mexico my dad was going to go visit my grandpa. My cousin and I asked him if we could go, because I wanted to see my goat. It was around 4pm and it was still kind of sunny. So we got on the truck and drove to my grandpa’s house. It was a really rocky road because some streets were made out of gravel. We got to my grandpa’s house. As soon as we got there, my cousin and I went running to his backyard. We were looking for Kiwi. We went to the cage where me and my cousin would normally play with Kiwi. He wasn’t there. So we looked around and tried to find him. We saw my grandpa and I went up to him. I asked him, “Donde esta Kiwi?” He said, “No esta aya.” We were worried and then he took me with him where the big pot was at it was kind of close to where he has his room because he lives with my uncle and wife. We saw this big pen he had and there was kiwi inside I felt like crying but I didn’t I just looked at my dad. Kiwi was also ready to be eaten he was torn into pieces so he would fit in the pen he had pineapple, and all kinds of weird ingredients over him so my grandpa turned on the tank that had gas he told us, “ya mero va estar la birria de chivo.” I told my dad that I wasn’t going to eat Kiwi . He begged me and my cousin to try the birria my grandpa made but I didn’t want to eat my own goat I would’ve tried it if It wasn’t Kiwi because Kiwi was a really nice goat. My cousin and I were sad because he was now dead. It smelled really bad when my grandpa was cooking him. Then my dad took us back to the house. My cousin and I decided to go to my Tia Anita’s house because she sells chocolate covered bananas and strawberries. She also sells popsicles. We went and bought a Popsicle which was only 2 pesos. I will always remember that memory because now I look back at it and it is funny and sad at the same time. I also learned a lesson and it was to not leave any of my animals with my grandpa because you might never see them agai

Reflection

I knew that in China they make mostly everything you wear and thy also have the great wall of china. I would like to visit China because I want to see and experience many things in China. I also want to see how they make most of the things we wear and use. I want to try their snack and candies and explore different things in China. China now has a lot of people and I think that they changed a lot because they know have free speech and many teens know could go to school and learn instead of working in factories. They also have more people and a lot of them have moved from farm to factory.

I think that the prezi idea would be kind of challenging because you have to learn a lot of steps. But I would try it in the future because it is more creative than powerpoint. Powerpoint was easy to use because I've used it in the past. Easybib was easy to use and I would use it in the future because it makes it much more easier. I would have done my project different by using the prezi idea because it is more creative and I would add more information and pictures.

A World Called Kindness

Long ago, there were two gods. They were brother and sister. He was dark and corrupted. He only wanted bad things for the humans. Everything he did, she would fix it behind his back. They lived in a very nice place that had blue grass, big houses, pink skies, giant ice cream mountains, and humans also had powers that he did not know of. They would only use their powers when something bad happened or when they needed help.

Their names were Bell and Edgar. Bell and the people of the village of Kindness were getting tired of Edgar because he shut down all the lights in the village. It was very cold and dark. People were freezing to death. A couple months passed by and he had not done anything good for the village. Instead of helping them, he gave up. He became jealous of Bell and the people because Bell was always with them helping out. Edgar decided to create animals and use them against the people.

The next day the people of the village went to Edgar and told him that if he was not going to do anything, to let Bell be in charge. Edgar got mad and made his animals attack the people. Bell heard them and went to talk to Edgar. She told him to stop making everything worse because the people had powers that he did not know of. He refused to listen to her and they went to war. The people defeated all of Edgar’s animals and realized he should have never been a god. He told the people that he was really sorry and he should have listened to them and actually tried helping them out. So the next day, he went to Bell and the people and told her that he no longer wanted be a god of Kindness. Instead, Bell should be the only goddess of Kindness.

She accepted and made everything better. Edgar continued living in the village, but he would not bother anyone anymore. This is the story of how our village came to be.
